Kemper Museum Item Donation Procedure

The Kemper Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, welcomes donations of items from alumni and the community to preserve and honor the legacy of Kemper Military School and College. All donated items are considered gifts to the Museum and may be eligible for tax-deductible contributions under IRS guidelines.


How to Donate Items

  1. Determine Eligibility of Items
    • The Museum accepts memorabilia, artifacts, documents, photographs, and other items relevant to the history and legacy of Kemper Military School and College.
    • If you have questions about whether an item is eligible for donation, please contact the Museum for clarification at Mr. John Tandy 314.878.5026 or john@tandyman.com.
  2. Prepare Your Donation
    • Each donated item must include a brief written description, such as its historical significance, origin, or connection to Kemper.
    • Donations will be assigned a value for IRS purposes, and the donor will receive an acknowledgment letter as a receipt for tax documentation.
  3. Shipping Instructions
    • Send your donation to:

    • Please label all packages as Attention: Kemper Museum to ensure proper handling.
  4. Gift Agreement
    • By donating items to the Museum, donors acknowledge that all contributions are gifts to the Museum and become the Museum’s property.
    • The Museum reserves the right to use, display, or store the items as deemed appropriate for its collections.

Loan Policy

The Museum will consider items for loan on a case-by-case basis, depending on their significance, relevance, and feasibility for long-term care.

  • Loan agreements require additional documentation and administrative work to ensure compliance with Museum policies.
  • If you are interested in loaning items, please contact the Museum directly to discuss the terms.

Tax-Deductible Gifts

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Kemper Museum provides acknowledgment letters for all accepted donations. Please note:

  • The Museum will not appraise items but will assign a value for IRS reporting.
  • Donations are tax-deductible within the legal limits set by the IRS. Please consult a tax professional for guidance regarding your specific situation.
